With lots of time between J-Bay and Tahiti, Scott and I planned on recording a podcast with all kinds of goodies for you. We even selected a date to surf and then record. Alas on the day I slept through my alarm and not wanting to cut the surf session short, I had to cut the podcast. Hopefully we'll do one soon, and I can tell you all about how Scott helped Connor O'Leary win in J-Bay. But for now, here's the League update and picks:
We have to congratulate YonnyBoogy on an epic J-Bay event win! Moving him all the way into the top 10! What's up with all these spongers winning seemingly every week?!
*I say sponger as a term of endearment. I've personally broken out the the big 8ft spong for the lackluster SoCal summer season.
**And am LOVING it!
***I'm allowed, my name is Kook!
And my buddy lipe_assad takes the overall lead, just 3 points ahead of CharlesWaters on the eve pf 2025's final event!
Picks
Women
A
Leaning Caity over Molly.
No clear standout here. Gabi has 3 9ths
B
Caroline
Erin
Caroline has been great with 3rd, 1st, 5th. Erin has really high upside. Bettylou has potential, and Tyle has some decent results with a 5th, and 3rd.
C
Vahine Fierro - Duh
Men
A
Italo
Yago
Italo has colled off, but he is the defending champ, plus no Tier A must-haves leads me here. Yago has been hot, and he's been solid at this wave with 3 5ths. Jordy, Kanoa, Ethan, and Griff have all struggled. Wouldn't be surprised to see a break out, but no can't miss picks here.
B
Jack
Leo
Miguel
Crosby
Jack is a lock. Leo has a 3rd and great barrel skills. Miguel has a win (along with 4 25ths). Crosby should be good here. I also like Barron and Joao. I want to like Connor, but he hasn't done better than 9th in 5 tries.
C
Kauli
Mihimana
Kauli is a lock, and could win the whole thing. Mihimana is a local charger who could go deep. More reason to not like the top tier guys.
Good Luck!
